I am making sure I give myself a proper slot for reading while we make the arrangements for my Mum's funeral. I am so far enjoying reading Shogun, which I remember vividly from the series starring Richard Chamberlain and John Rhys-Davies; whenever Rodrigues speaks I hear those lines in his voice lol.

Not so much reading yesterday as I had a bad day emotionally, but I'm hoping today is a better one. Still enjoying Clavell's writing style though.

I'm sorry to hear Michael. Nothing one can say but to take your own time to heal, and when ready be around any friends and/or family company you enjoy. Even if it is doing nothing. Stay strong Enjoyed the book, and the original Richard Chamberlain mini-series. If not seen it yet, there is a new 2024 series adaptation. Only season 1 so far is out, season 2 supposed to be out next year

Thank you, Steven. Mum was such a kind and gentle soul, I shall take comfort in knowing that her suffering is over but it will take a long time to get over her not being here any longer. I have my sister and her family to keep me company. One of the carers that visited has contacted me and she wants to take me out for coffee and a chat. It's very strange how such tragic events can bring about new friendships.
Yes, I was aware that they had made a new series adaption, I'll have to look it up and see if it measures up to my memory of the old series.
