I just wrapped up the prequel, Ultimate Blue Seal (which apparently doesn’t have a goodreads page), and by comparison this spin-off is much more straightforward so far. Blue Seal got pretty complex, kinda convoluted at times, but the scope of the sci-fi premise in this book feels more manageable for my oft-distracted attention span 🙃 I’m just happy to read anything Priest, tbh

What about the plot?"Kou Tong (the titular Itinerant Doctor) is my favorite so far—he has the most depth and a pretty interesting character arc. As per Priest’s usual, the whole cast of characters is well fleshed-out, and it’s kind of developing a found family vibe :) Plot’s pretty straightforward, but since they’re in an alternate world created by people’s subconscious minds, there’s a lot of wacky events/circumstances they find themselves in. It’s got a heeeaavvvy emphasis on mental health, so there are some darker themes as well. I’m looking forward to where it’s going to see how everything balances out!
I hope this story wraps up nicely! I look forward to see what you think of it! I know Priest tends to have abrupt endings, so I hope this story is well rounded and doesn't do that.But that's so sick!! Omg this concept is amazing! Mental health. Alt worlds. Fleshed out characters!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩 OMG!!!
