(..) he has a strong vision of what he wants, and when he casts someone he’s already seen something in that person that’s exactly what he wants to see on the screen. You get very little direction from him, and nobody has to struggle to play the characters he casts them as.

(..) failure’s not all bad because there’s nowhere to go but up, so you have a sense of freedom from failure. Success can screw you because you start worrying about falling and you can’t ever stay in the same place. That’s just the way it is. You should be thankful for successes, because people really loved something you did, but it’s all about the work.

There’s humor in struggling in ignorance, but I also find it heroic the way people forge on despite the despair they often feel.

So much goes on that people will never know about with every film. You can tell all the stories you want, but you still haven’t gotten across what the experiences was like. It’s like telling somebody a dream. It doesn’t give them the dream.
