I'm really trying but why is Hector sometimes such a pussy, sometimes such a 'I'm a badass' edgy teenager. The whiplash I get from him makes me cringe so hard I literally am unable to read anymore

I'm really trying to read more into this book lmfao. but holy fuck, Hector's character is very conflicted and not in a good way imo. I feel like Alderson was going for a 'snarky killer with morality', but it just isn't working for meeeeeee. Like WDYM YOU WON'T KILL THE PERSON SUFFERING BEFORE YOU?? WHAT DO YOU MEAAAAAAAN????

I'm really not trying to be negative (cause I want to like this book) but I'm naturally snarky, and I just have to say that this entire fucking battle sequence is like disney-levels of goofy, with cheesy as hell dialogue

"I didn't plan to harm another witch unless provoked". Aren't you supposed to be a bloodthirsty 'killer'?

Ngl, for someone filled with 'vengeance', I feel as though Hector is a bit too nice. Like yeah, I get Romy's nice and all, and she did give you a chance to run away, but imo, their friendship came way too fast.

One superficial comment I want to add. Can I just say how none of the names in this book match the vibe of their character? Idk maybe I'm just biased. This part, I'm aware, is purely on my end, not exactly a true 'criticism'

Okay, so "I replied to our bond, my finality wavering". Hector CAN speak to Caym in his mind??? So, why was he whispering earlier? Seems kinda pointless and a bit sus (for everyone) when he can just literally just say it in his head?
