ooooh changes changes changes, like a (reverse?) demian

first I thought this is getting a bit on the nose with Experiemnt City (esp. the insemination ritual on Dec 24th) but then it clicked that Amane's fear of family as she knows it vanishing is an echo of her mother's fear of sex vanishing. maybe this is more about progress in general (like Antonioni's Red Deser) than guilt and shame in connection to sex

i like the way she talks about sex and i do understand the adam & eve rhing better now and the whole premise; sex is treated like a shameful thing right now so removing it is what humanity is idealistically headed towards .. which makes this basically a sci-fi book

i like the way the situation is handled, with culture following the circumstances that reproduction (itself set by capitalist imperialist war effort) imposes on it.

fun setup that feels very much like a big joke. I hope its developing on the idea and brings out more to chew on because the funny tone disarms me well
