New and unexpected developments. I wasn’t expecting Margot to be torn about eating strays but then again she’s easy to influence since she’s still growing up.
I did not expect that they ate her father.
But I’m disturbed by the insinuation between the couple about Margot. That she’s in danger of being a stray, being eaten too. I need Margot to stand up for once!

Okay. I’m starting to see some conflicts of interest between them. Somehow, Ruth can have an exception from a stray like Eden. But Margot couldn’t with Abbie and the bus driver.
While I understand where Ruth is coming from about needing different types of love, she is getting selfish and clouded by her feelings that she and Eden gang up and neglect Margot together. It’s an unhealthy dynamic made unhealthier.

Okay. I’m still waiting for the shift in dynamic, but there seems to be a foreshadowing that I’m going to look out for. Eden just seems too good to be true for them, I feel like she knows something, but I’m not sure what.
It’s hard to gauge considering she also ate humans with them.

I’m starting to see how Ruth came to be. She’s likely a grooming victim herself, married too young to a manway older. She was a minor.
I’m wondering when the dynamic would shift since Eden appears as the third member of their family.

l guess I’n somewhat right that Margot would feel resentful although right now, she feels threatened by Eden.
I’m wondering what it means for the two. But more importantly, it’s fascinating to see how incredibly deprived of love and feeling Ruth is to the point of filling it by eating people as the only way. That’s genuinely the only reason why it started in the first place. She’s just weird…

I’m not really good at predicting here but it seems like Margot is feeling guilt for the gamekeeper considering he is Abbie’s father. I’m thinking she might feel resentment over Eden for this, that she’s changing her view on people. Radicalized.
But also she has no frame of reference that eating people is wrong considering how she is raised.

Not expecting this book to turn into a sapphic story between a cannibal and a soon to be one. I thought I knew where the story was heading when Margot thought of Eden as a stray and she’d feel resentment to plut against her mom about her but they’re family now I guess.
I don’t know where the story is heading once again but we’ll see.

I was not expecting it to be the other way around, it seems the cannibalistic mind is taking root on Margot than on Ruth.
Ruth seems to be developing feelings for their supposed stray named Eden. When Margot pointed out that Eden is different from her lovers, I can see where their dynamic as mother and child could shift. It’s conflict of interest.
But who is Eden? She seems very curious about the missing people.

I’m quickly learning that this story is quite tragic, from the perspective of a victim, groomed by a narcissistic mother with cannibalistic tendencies. In a way, I feel had for how the main character is raised in neglectful way, that no child should experience.
I feel for how deeply depraved he is.

Not expecting the gross opening but it could be worse. It’s too early to give my thoughts into the book yet but I’m at least invested enough to find out.
No names have been introduced. Just a cannibalistic mother and her child luring victims into their home.
