I don't know what it's called, but there's this technique in comics and manga where you tell two stories at once, because they thematically line up with each other. Whatever that's called, I want to know. This entire volume has been that, and it's so masterfully done on a level I haven't seen in a long time.

I love how the artist who works on this series always draws their self portrait on the title page as a dinosaur or some other random animal. It reminds me of Xiran Jay Zhao's funny author pictures where they're in a cow or t-rex costume. If I write a book someday, my author picture will be a fox. Not even me in a fox costume. Just a painting of a cute fox.
