A far future alien species using the term "cosplaying" as a point of reference is pretty weird. It broke my immersion a bit. But considering that's my only gripe in the first 600 pages that's not bad going. Tchaikovsky's book are consistently brilliant, and this one is no different, minor nit-picking aside.

This book is over 600 pages long so my tracking is a little off. It's so good though. Nobody is doing like Tchaikovsky.

Awesome, I'm jealous ;-). Even though Book 3 was a let down, Books 1 and 2 are among my alltime-favourites. I'm really looking forward to this one.
