I tried with these 2 books but the age gap was atrocious. FMC was 9 when mmc supposedly killed her mom and she showed him an escape route to save his brother who he shot. The bf mmc was like 7 years older and our main mmc was 14 years older. It just gave constant ick vibes. And I know author try to explain it away with bf mmc

Saying he didn’t see her that way till she was older but even that was questionable and then the older brother kept talking about how she was a resourceful child and flashing back to being her protector and etc. it just felt very groomer to me.
