Lang Junxia introducing Li Jianhong to Duan Ling gave such proud midwestern dad vibes talking about his kid’s good grades and his favorite spicy foods 🥹 You know he almost took out his wallet to show Li Jianhong pictures of him in his little league football gear or some shit. “Yep, that’s my boy!”

This is my first Fei Tian Ye Xiang novel, and I’m really impressed with the complexity of emotion weaved into the story so far. There’s a lot of innocence & really wholesome interactions between Duan Ling and his parental figures, but at the same time there’s a war brewing and we’re given both a child’s perspective and adults’ perspectives of these heavier themes. The balance has been phenomenal.

I kinda don't want Duan Ling to grow up because the father-son interactions with Lang Junxia are so sweet! I only just met Li Jianhong in the story, so I don't know him that well yet XD

I've only ~just~ read Lang Junxia & Li Jianhong's first interactions (as they were spying on sleeping Duan Ling), but I'm curious to find out more about their history!
Yeah I didn't know this until I looked it up at some point. Where you are right now, Li Jinghong is 29 I think... But anyway. It doesn't explicitly say he's older at any point in the story, but you kinda guess based on the chain of events that have happened or will happen. I figured it's not a bad detail to tell you since it's not really spoiling anything to know his age haha.
Also, Li Jianhong is like... THE perfect man. The way I swoon over him! 😂 🤣
