I'm doing one big push and finishing up "The Bad Book." No sleep until this nightmare is over.

*You can't control dreams, but the fact she's imagining herself in Crew's life a decade later is insane. She's known this family for less than a month. Yes, she's learned some concerning things about this particular family, but sub-consciously (who are we kidding, it's practically unavoidable in her waking life now) seeing herself as Crew's mother is alarming. Verity may be a "bad" mom, but she's not dead and present-day Crew loves her.
*You're going to share the manuscript now that you have a selfish reason to do so. Why am I not surprised.
*More product placement
*I totally forgot Lowen thought Crew was an asshole, because she only ever thought it in that one line. No effort to continue that opinion
*Why does a five year old have a knife? Even a butter knife? And Lowen thinks she's going to be a better mother :eyeroll:
*SIN
*Even more sin
*What is she going to do with a knife? Kill Verity if she attacks her?
*Going back to the psychopathy thing, even if Verity was one, she'd be hyper aware of Jeremy's emotional state and how much Harper meant to him. She never would have considered killing her. Controlling a father grieving one daughter is doable, but two in a short span? Far more complex.
*If J knew this whole time his actions make even less sense. No thought was put into this plot
22
*THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING LOWEN? Assaulting her isn't going to do anything!!
*JEREMY HAS DONE ONE SMART THING AND THAT IS TELLING LOWEN TO LEAVE
*Every single character would have a better life if they all went their separate ways and never looked back.
23
*Ah, the twist is revealed.
*ARE THEY GOING TO KILL HER TOGETHER?!?!
*!!!!!!!
*So we're just.. never going to know her motives for faking her injuries. Awesome. That's great. One of the choices of all time.
24
*Time skip and I'm already guessing Lowen's pregnant.
*CALLED IT
*Aren't careful? Didn't you ensure you'd get pregnant like five chapters ago.
*She trapped him in a relationship, just like Verity did. God this bitch is cold
*I hate this book I hate this book I hate this book
*NO ONE IN THE PRESS THINKS THIS WHOLE THING IS WEIRD? NO INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALIST CALLS BS??
*That dumb chronics thing comes back again
*THE MANUSCRIPT WAS FAKE!?!?
*THEY KILLED HER OVER NOTHIN!?!?
*HE READ IT ALREADY!?!?
*OH MY GOD WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
25
*EAT SHIT LOWEN YOU KILLED HER FOR NOTHING
*NO GOOD PEOPLE ARE IN THIS BOOK
*LOWEN BECAME THE FICTIONAL VERITY. YOU'RE THE BAD GUY
*THIS STUPID ASS BOOK I HATE WITH EVERY BONE IN MY BODY
Epilogue
*sin
*YOU SHOULD STILL FEEL GUILTY
*why are they boning in the epilogue
*I just took 200 psychic damage and felt my stomach curdle. The rumors about Hoover's obsession with breastmilk were SOMEHOW undersold.
*more product placement
*OH HELL NO DONT GO VILIFYING MY BOY CREW, THE ONLY GOOD CHARACTER IN THIS GODFORSAKEN BOOK
*GET THIS WOMAN AWAY FROM THIS BOY
*Random dig at millennials
*EAT SHIT LOWEN. RANDOM GROCERY GIRL BRING IT HOME
*He's gonna kill her isn't he.
*oh my god
*sin
*WHOS THE PSYCHOPATH NOW LOWEN!??
*boning part 2 ft shower
*making the child the villain pt 2
*the last word in the book is chronics, because why the hell not.
Final thoughts: I hate this dumb book. Every character was a bastard but only Verity was treated like one. The whole epilogue was just batshit insane. I genuinely cannot fathom how this book was noticed by a publisher AND PICKED UP. My next book will not give me a headache every other paragraph.
For a moment there, I thought the twist was going to be that the book itself, "Verity," was going to be one of the books from Verity's series. That twist would have sucked ass, but the actual twist sucked ass and shit it out again.
I can't wait to read literature by competent writers once more. All I can think about is that one time I got into a fight with two grown ass women that Hoover's writing was amazing when I'd only heard the bare-bones summary of this book. I've been vindicated and then some.
