On how parts take on roles of exiles, managers or firefighters. Exiles are those which are kept away, locked, not looked at, hidden. Managers try to keep yourself busy. Firefighters numb or avoid, which will have you drinking alcohol or even self harm or escapist spirituality.
One has to go through parts playing this protector roles to allow exiles to reveal, return.

More exercises including meditation on a dilemma coming up or in the past, seeing it from perspective of parts, it was quite revealing for me. That's one of the strong suit of this book, each concept is followed by some practical exercise to see for yourself, how real these concepts are and how unique they are for each of us. The parts, their burdens and how certain behaviors and conflicts come via that.

Exercise 2, mapping your parts. A revealing drawing exercise. To be also used at decision times, etc

Exercise one, getting to know a protector, which is a meditation to explore sensations and thoughts and find which part it's coming from of you. It's wonderful and conversation and waiting and discovering things which have been nascent or hidden but still affecting action. 4/4

The term burden on a part is apt as while it's there, the whole human has certain addictive or other harmful behaviors. But once a burden is lifted, a misplaced responsibility, a past event, then the part normalizes to being a valuable component and contributes more positively.

Ch1. We are all multiples. A finding and confirmation, all of have parts. Which often are frozen in time, at a traumatic or other event place and time, each part has its own body and sensation, burdens(views), each part can answer and change.
