I didn’t think NATO is armed with nuclear weapons considering it’s an organization that supposedly promotes unity and diplomacy among nations. Also I didn’t think much of how important a government hierarchy is until a nuclear attack is launched, because successors would have to be considered and it’s a position that holds so much responsibility.

It really is terrifying how flawed technology still is in-use for a nuclear war because they could accidentally start it like Russia’s flawed early-warning system! Not only that but all nuclear weapons available in the United States can be used all at once over a mere universal unlock code.

There’s a lot of secret safeguards installed in these systems that guarantee a break from deterrence. It’s scary!

Attacking a nuclear power plant surely is another different monster to wrestle. It’s another set of problems separate from the ICBM to hit Pentagon. I suppose it tells me that every nuclear attack produces a domino effect of problems, the submarine missile is used as another example to show that what happens vary.

Just when I think it couldn’t get worse. I forgot that power plants exist and they hold nuclear reactors… I can’t even comprehend the damage it would cost considering the dangers of any considerable damage on a power plant!

A nuclear war doesn’t have rules. That’s what’s terrifying. The mere system preventing a nuclear war is so precarious and flawed. Surely there has to be a better way!!

Above all else, it is scary to think that it really only does take a madman as a leader of a nation to start a nuclear war and not only that, but with modern weapons that have been developed to be undetectable under water.

This gives a looming threat that a nuclear war could strike at any point in time and there wouldn’t be enough time to flee at all.

There’s a lot to consider especially after a nuclear war. Governments would have to make assumptions of worst case scenarios and plan ahead like there being twelve positions succeeding the President.

I can’t imagine any good scenario of weakened government body, a military leadership and anarchic state of survival. I think people already lost either way because there is a struggle to rebuild.

The President clearly bears the biggest responsibility of what to do and also to also keep in mind to keep the attack from escalating bigger since there are impending casualties outside North Korea. Russians and Chinese citizens are going to be collateral.

I can’t imagine how anything could be avoided. It puts into perspective how world leaders walk on eggshells in this political climate. Disagreements or not.

It’s the fact that there have been instances of possible nuclear wars because of system errors! The world could have ended because of a simple mistake! And if the officer didn’t make the effort of looking deeper into it could’ve killed millions!

I’m also appalled by the knowledge that the President carries a control switch for nuclear weapons at all times. Especially now. With Trump as president…

I didn’t think the Presidents are willfully meant to be ignorant during a nuclear war and they’re supposed to be the main deciding factor for how to act on it. The movies that portray this weren’t lying nor exaggerating… I also get it because they are not military trained but still.

Also theft of nuclear weapons and sold makes sense. I can see why the nine countries have nuclear stockpiles.
