Laying down rules: what one can eat, Ramadan fasting (must complete fasting later if sick, or otherwise unable to), only fighting oppressors out of defense, banning of intermarriage, divorce policies, rules of when men can have sex with their wives. Annotations say many of these rules were to preserve Muslims safety as their religion grew.

Juz 1/30; Al-Baqarah: The Cow
Reiterates stories from the Bible calls out Jews for repeatedly disobeying God and ignoring messages from Islamic prophets for false idols.
The Cow was tough to understand; internet tells me Moses called a search for a cow to solve a murder, but I don’t see it in the actual text. My book’s annotation claims it an allegory for Jesus’s death and resur., but doesn’t seem right.
