Wow. The upset of the century, totally insane. 1948 - “Dewey beats Truman” (not). Literally every poll, paper, and commentator was wrong, but he campaigned like hell.
The writing of this chapter leading up to the election is just absolutely phenomenal. So riveting, funny, and paints the picture so well of just how insane it was that Truman won, literally against all odds.
