Once Molly shoved Terzi into a Citroen, along with The Finn, Mahmut, and Riviera. The Citroen headed out. Case and Molly rode the Mercedes to the gardens of the Seraglio. They talked about Armitage's background, how Terzi was an asshole, and the capabilities of the AI Wintermute. Once they were back at the Hilton, Armitage told them they were going to Freeside.

Armitage showed the crew a hologram of the Spindle; the end of the projection marked the target of the crew. Riviera was to get in with an invitation. Once he was in, he was going to get Molly in. That was the plan. After that, Case and Molly were invited to meet the elders of Zion. Under the influence of Wintermute, they offered tugs to help the crew.

It was Wintermute calling, and Case was frightened. He hung up right away. As he walked the length of the ranked phones, each rang in turn, but only once, as he passed.
