I think I have an Emma complex. I’m seeing Austen’s Emma in Yonge’s “The Clever Woman of the Family” and now in this story. There are some interesting twists in both but the basic setup of an arrogant young woman with one parent whose understanding of those around her is flawed and limited is present in both stories.
