Yeah the narrative voice is def annoying me. Stop telling me things. Let me infer them. They aren't even hard to grasp but the author keeps telling us anyway. Stop telling me things like i'm a dumbass.

ok icl i am not too enthused about this book. approaching it with the same tentative hesitation as i did with rwrb. not too sure about the writing style either but that's a me-specific issue coz it's a way of speaking that i personally don't like. great start 👍

The worst part is that this isn't a kids book, although some of the reviews that i've been hate reading actually said it could be a kids book if you don't mind the occassional swear word 😂But my issue with the narrative voice is that it's basically tj klune's voice rather than a 3rd person narration if that makes sense. And he talks in that cringey snarky way that some millenials do. Literally my cousin talks like that sometimes, and she's the same age as tj klune
The worst example i have of "telling the reader" is this one chapter where linus is threatening to leave the cat behind and ALL THREE TIMES it is followed by "of course, he would never actually do that, don't worry" like bro i KNOW 💀😭
