I think I might like the epic of Gilgamesh (and Mesopotamian myth in general) too much to read this…. But I also refuse to DNF a book.

The writing style just is not doing it for me.. super detached and distant. Also there’s three different characters in a first person PoV and their voice is all exactly the same?

Trying to not be a nitpicky hater, but there definitely wasn’t wine, velvet, etc in 4000 BC Mesopotamia 😬 I can def see that Wilson’s familiarity lies with the Greco-Roman world
