Yeah, I don’t know about this one.
I struggle when there’s no strong protagonist. This follows a couple sets of characters (either two or three), but everything after the initial flashback prologue just feels like pointless meandering.
It doesn’t help that the characters are universally annoying and I kind of want them all to get eaten by giant snakes.
Never an encouraging start to a novel.

Something interesting has finally happened, but I think it might be too little too late. A vaguely interesting mystery can’t make up for supremely uninteresting characters.
