What I've learned during this reading sesh: martyrdom was lowkey good marketing for orthodox christians. Increasing intrigue and even their numbers.

Also gnostics are still really cool, they side eye Christians that use martyrdom just so they can go to heaven without actually living a honorable life.

Wanted to read more but was way too sleepy to put in the work. Hope to finish this before the end of the year though!

What I've learned so far:

Basically Gnosticism made the divine accessible to anyone, taking out the middleman between person and god. Those in power in Orthodox Faith felt threatened by this development, which is what probably kick-started the widespread erasure of Gnostic teachings and artifacts.

Idk man these gnostics dudes seem kinda chill. They put some respect on Mary Magdalene's name.

Have wanted to do some research on gnosticism for a long while now. Specifically because of a project that is on the back burner but won't leave my mind.

Might be a difficult read for me since I'm extremely unfamiliar with religious texts but willing to give this a try!
