When you’re in the middle of it, you can get lost, feeling like hockey is the only thing that matters.
Whenever we have dinner at his place, or he comes to visit, I’m reminded just how much more there is to this life than hockey.
Most of it has to do with his daughter.
He talks about his hockey career with joy, but he talks about his family with love.

Alexander about Sarah’s dad, John

Alexander- As my team leaves the ice, I can’t help but look around the arena one last time, taking in the cheers of our fans.
We just made it into the Stanley Cup playoffs.
For the first time in 17 years, the Chicago Coyotes will play for the Cup.

“Christ, I love you,” I say, without really thinking.
Shit.
Is this too soon?
When she answers by licking up my throat, before giving me a scorching hot kiss, all tongue and grabby hands, I feel my nerves ease.
“I love you too, Alexander,” she tells me, making me feel lightheaded.
She actually said it back.
Not that I thought she wouldn’t, but it kind of just popped out of me.

“Well, I don’t know how your dad looked at your mom, but I can confirm I have it bad for you, Sarah,” I tell her sincerely, wanting to wipe away any doubt in her mind.
She lets out a small breath, smiling at me.
“Yeah, I have it pretty bad for you, too.”

“Wow, this would be the best story ever at your wedding,” Braden says, making my heart gallop in my chest.
When I catch Alexander’s eye, the look he gives me is like no other.
Clearly not fazed by the suggestion from his brother, he simply says,
“Yeah, it will be.”  

Alexander told his brother, Braden, about meeting Sarah the first time

“Wow, this would be the best story ever at your wedding,” Braden says, making my heart gallop in my chest.
When I catch Alexander’s eye, the look he gives me is like no other.
Clearly not fazed by the suggestion from his brother, he simply says,
“Yeah, it will be.”  

Alexander told his brother how he met Sarah

“I’m in so much trouble with you, McGregor,” she tells me, making me wink at her.
“I’m right there with you, Parker.”

I’m in a constant state of arousal around this woman, but having her close, taunting me about my teammates having a shot with her, well, that has awoken the caveman inside me.

In the early part of her internship, she had a lot to learn about the team, its dynamics, and its players.
Over time, she’s becoming more confident in her role and her ability to contribute to the team.
I’ve been following her work and hearing all the praise from the guys, which makes me extra proud of her, knowing hockey players can be a tough crowd.

At four o’clock, my favourite ice hockey player is leaning against the doorframe to our office, giving me a dazzling smile.
“Hey, baby. Ready to go?” He asks me, making Samantha sigh beside me.
We’re definitely her favourite reality show.
