It is difficult to compare this to other Foucault biographies (it has been 30 years since I read them) but I’m finding this riveting.

Foucault’s higher matriculation was at the same location and time as that of Boulez. I gather when the philosopher first saw the composer the latter was raging against Gide. I thought about how upset I was when Boulez trashed Shostakovich.
