marianas trench is an interesting addition mostly because it sticks out. the chapter is much shorter, I believe, because they’re mostly a pop band that had punk influences, not punk beginnings. very interesting backstory with Ramsay but overall an interesting addition to the book

fefe dobson is a Canadian icon to me <3 what do you mean she wrote some of my fav selena gomez songs !! while i know dobson from her more pop third album it was super neat to learn about her start and the limitations the music industry has on punk women

alexisonfire drummer is CITY AND COLOUR??? CITY AND COLOUR IS CANADIAN??? absolute wild ride there at the end about the bands eventual break up and really liked the closing sentiments on the band break up. also so crazy they dominated mainstream (ish) mid 2000s considering id never heard them before

sliverstein isn’t 100% my genre because it is so heavy and i lean more pop/skate punk but it was really interesting to learn a more metal adjacent history and good to know about them if they are essentially Canada’s most successful emo band.

billy talent has some of the coolest lore: being incredibly famous in germany, their drummer has MS, they achieved success starting in the mid 20s, and got where they did because a record representative liked them so much she promoted them to others when her boss wouldn’t sign them. kinda iconic
