Another read of this one to inform my opinion before I revise my review. The story feels lengthy for a picture book, but approaching it as a form of nonfiction helps digest it.

I'll probably return this to the library today, so here's one last read, just for fun, without having to weigh how it might affect my review. The Big Snow feels long for a picture book, but as a meditative experience themed on the winter season, I'm convinced it has its place.

The plan is to find time this evening to read The Big Snow once more before I polish off the final draft of my review. Fridays can be hectic for my family, but I'll do my best to make it happen so I can return the book to the library Saturday.

The goal is to complete a third read by this evening and set to work and finish the initial draft of my review. I realized things about the book in my second read that I didn't the first time through, and I believe I'll benefit from repeating the exercise.

This book feels long and mostly lacks plot, but the illustrations of birds are uniquely gorgeous. I'm going to read this again today, to solidify my opinion before I consider crafting the first draft of my new review.

That bluejay is gorgeous. I like him as much as Mordecai! :-)

It's been a long time since I read this book, winner of the 1949 Caldecott Medal. Let's see how well I remembered Berta and Elmer Hader's narrative magic.
