Dallas- Later that night, long after rounds two and three and while the rest of the world sleeps, I feel the change.
I have nothing to base it off of. No experience to measure it against. But when I hold Maven in my arms as she drifts off to sleep, it feels a lot like those books she reads.
Like the start of falling in love.

Maverick took June for the night so Dallas and Maven could have some time alone together.

“I really hope we win today.”
“You’re thinking about football right now?” I ask & his lips curve into a grin. “I guess I need to step my game up.”
“I’m thinking about football, because if we win, we’re doing that every Sunday morning. And it would be a shame to waste such talent.”
Later when Dallas kicks a 67 yard field goal that goes down as a new NFL record he points to me over a sea of people

“But lately, I realize that’s not true—you’re the biggest distraction of all and I’m having the best season of my career. I think I’ve been using excuses because I just hadn’t found the right thing yet. Because when I look at you, Maven, I’m alive for the first time in years. I feel like I was made for you, and I feel like you were made for me too. I’m all in on this. On you.”

Maven grins and drags me to the bathroom. Something in me pulls tight at the intimacy of the moment, and I start to wonder if this could be a forever kind of thing.

Dallas- I had a feeling. Only because you’re mine, too.

Maven is easily the hottest woman I’ve been with. She’s confident and sexy in a way that tells me she knows exactly what she likes and exactly how she wants things done. She’s the one with the power here, and I’m going to do my best to keep up.

Dallas “Fuck it. Fuck staying away. Fuck shouldn’t. I don’t just want you, Maven. I fucking need you like I need air. Can I have you? Please let me have you.”
Maven- “Yes,” she says, and that single word rearranges my entire world. “You can have me. All of me, Dallas, because you’ve always had me.”

Maven- “Because,” she whispers, and her fingers hook in the belt loop of my jeans. “You said it was mine for the rest of the season. It makes me think I could be yours, too.”
