She touches my cheek and drags her thumb down the line of my jaw. “I’m going to remember that.”
“I’ll keep reminding you,”

Dallas feels like a fairy tale. And when I drift off to sleep, his arms around my body and our hearts beating in unison, I know one day, I could love him wholly, and it would be the easiest thing I’ve ever done.

Maven thinks about Dallas

Dallas-“Do you think your dad will care that you’re dating me? I’m not sure how I’d feel about June dating someone eight years older than her.”
Maven-“He’d be a hypocrite for caring; he and Maggie are over a decade apart. But my dad likes you. He thinks you’re a nice guy. The only things he’ll want to know are if you make me happy, and if you treat me right.”

Getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner

“Is there something you need to tell me, Lansfield, because now would be the time,” Shawn says, and it sounds like a warning. “I’m giving you the chance to come clean with me.”
I shake my head. I don’t have enough coherent thoughts to know my own name let alone what I need to tell him. “I just want Maven.”
He sighs but stands up. “Do not leave this room.”

Maverick takes June so Maven can be at the hospital with Dallas.

Maven- “You’re a good guy, Maverick Miller. One day, you’re going to make someone very happy, and ten million hearts will all break because you’re officially off the market,”

“You saw what happened last week in San Diego. Their safety, JJ Hanson, went into cardiac arrest on the field after a brutal hit. That could just as easily happen to any of us. If it does—if it happens to me—I need you to promise me you’ll look after June. I love Maverick and Reid, but I trust you the most, Maven. I know you’ll take care of our girl.”
