Another postcard

Dallas- He shrugs and brings his hand to his mouth. He kisses my knuckles and his eyes meet mine. “I was thinking we lose our minds a little bit. Maybe for the next sixty years. We could buy a house. Have a couple kids. Throw a wedding in there, eventually. What do you think?”
Maven- “I think that sounds like the stupidest idea in the world.” I grin. “Let’s do it.”

I’m predicting that Dallas will make an amazing catch then score the game-winning touchdown. Overcoming his injury and saving the game would be a great character arc for him.

“What are you doing here?” Jett asks when I squeeze in next to him.
“RB,” I say, and his eyes widen.
“Really?”
“Yeah. Might as well spice things up. It can’t get worse, can it?”
“Holy hell.” He clasps my shoulder. “I’ve got your back, Cap.”
“I’ve got yours too, QB. Let’s win this fucking thing.”

Jett & Dallas

Dallas tells Shawn he’ll go in as running back.
That’s the position he played before his injury.

Shawn- “Another running back, which makes four down tonight. This is impossible to watch.”

Their players keep getting injured. 😕

I pull out the postcard I wrote to her on the drive over from the hotel and hand it to her. “For the pile.”
“What does this one say?”
“Probably something stupid about how much I love you and how I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together.”
“Yuck.” Maven sticks out her tongue. “Disgusting.”
“Seriously. It makes me sick,” I agree.

Proposal via postcard?
Let’s see what happens…

Shawn turns to Dallas. “You broke my trust, and there will be consequences. Losing your captain title is a possibility, and I’m not above benching you for the first half of the Super Bowl. I hate to make an example out of you, but I might fucking have to. It clearly didn’t stick the first time.”

“Your job with the Titans will be terminated immediately.” He pauses, and I squeeze my eyes shut. “An investigation will be conducted to verify the means in which your relationship started and to make sure there was no exertion of power by Dallas or any other members of the Titans team.”

Maven’s meeting with Shawn
