I don't think my brain can process this right now as my main read. So I'm making a different shelf called "Slow Reads" where I'll slowly work on it in the upcoming months by like a 7-10 chapters a week or something. It'll take me forever but I'll get there!
Hopefully my mind will be in the mood for this.

What kind of writing do you all prefer? "Show, Don't Tell" or "Tell, Don't Show"
I realized one of the reasons I'm not having fun w/ this novel it's because it's too much of the latter. The author randomly puts SO many facts literally in the middle of a scene lasting over a chapter, just to explain one little thing. It prolongs the story _ makes it so boring to me. Where is the chemistry between the two mains?

Okay okay so a cultivator can clear desolate malevolent energy, but if they fail to do it right, they would be contaminated and corroded?? *cough cough* XW. And WS is like a skeleton, soulless and a bottomless bucket... (≖ᴗ≖ ✿)

Am I reading Charles Dickens who got paid by installment? I don't think we needed 80 plus pages to figure out who this lady is and what's her lingering attachment. I think it described and gave you way too many scenes only to give you very little relevant information to solve it and tie it to the mc, imo. Good lord... But okay. We move on. I still have hope I'll become invested.

The consequences of going into this blind is that I wasn't expecting it to be semi-creepy!
I'm curious if this story revolves around the characters entering these cages over and over. If so, it's gonna get old and I'm not gonna enjoy it as much. Idk what to expect. Idk if that's a good or bad thing. This story doesn't have me as engaged as I thought it would, thus I'm struggling.

Things I'm thinking of as I'm reading this:
-The couple reminds me of You Huo and Qin Jiu from QQGK.
-Ah that's right... Mu Su Li's writing very unique in the sense of "what in the world is happening?" (Personally some scenes like this kinda bore me and drag, but after you get a reveal, it makes sense.)
-OHHHHH! AW! Now I'm gonna cry! ｡°(°¯᷄◠¯᷅°)°｡

That makes sense. Truthfully, it's my own stubbornness. People say that the middle is sad and angsty and that the ending wraps up nicely. I suspect my slump is a mood issue and I become more and more picky, and I hate that.
I read her other novel Global Examination several years ago and I actually ended up loving many many moments and loved the ending. 😆 I usually rate pretty high, and GE overall ended being a 4/5 for me; I ended up not hating it at all, it was worth it. Though it was my first limited flow and it being different made me snail through it, I liked 70% of it and appreciating 90% of it.
So all in all its a me issue and not a story. I wanna say I completed it so I can fully wrap my head, heart, and soul around it, giving solid arguments and discuss with people. It's very fun and one of my favorite thing about reading is yapping with others. A lot of it has to deal with it making me think of different prospectives and appreciate the parts I didn't care for. This story is promising and I am looking forward for this arc I'm currently at, to end.
I know I've been feeling rushed to hit my year-end reading goal, and I don't want to force myself to read it before a certain date or deadline.

Not sure if this is helpful: I found it gets better with every cage. In the beginning, especially with that well cage (it’s actually a whole house but the well stood out to me) it felt endless, but I found it picked up pace later on.

It is feeling rather endless. This Shop Sanmi shop is very long.
I liked the first cage was it was quick and sweet.
