This book keeps surprising me. Even though the message is strongly "don't make assumptions. Don't rely on your biases. Listen carefully, actively"
I have more biases than I thought. I'm a much less skilled listener than I thought. I find the practices in this book useful but not easy.

I'm starting to see why people think this book is manipulative techniques rather than biological, psychological wisdom.
It makes me think of the distrust of makeup, not knowing "what someone truly looks like". As if the only honest, truthful way of communicating was straightforward and stoic.
To me, he's explaining the art of real connection, using tools from therapists and other cultures.

I'm surprised at the style of writing: conversational and logical. Full of useful anecdotes and looking at multiple points of view for negotiation.
I've wanted to read this book for a while but now I feel so excited by it.
