The relationship between alt-right figureheads and the media is beneficial because their extreme ideologies is normalized, the media gets to use them as clickbait to attract attention and discourse. The author was right to call it courting controversy because it’s the alt-right politicians business model. Like Trump, they lean into similar manosphere views but they tread the line enough for plausible deniability.

It comes as no surprise that alt-right politicians act as the figureheads to further the manosphere ideologies into the mainstream. But it still pisses me off recalling how Trump got elected TWICE despite the racist and misogynistic rhetoric he keeps in his pocket.

Pmo by how the media carelessly helps the manosphere by the double standards between white and non-white mass murderers. It’s true that being labeled as a terrorist holds so much weight in people’s perception. Muslims immediately get that label but white men don’t even if they both fit the description of a terrorist by law.

It’s insane to me that this is why Christiandom & Islam have opposite perceptions.

The media will do anything for clicks even if they attract the wrong attention, this has been an obvious fact when you grow up in the digital age. But it is still infuriating to see the role they play that carry out platforming these extremists who think they have the audacity to enforce their problematic ideals through force in every way.

Once more I am ragebaited with how trolls could damage women’s livelihoods through their harassment and the many examples presented is just disheartening. The book is right to call out how these tactics are dismissed and shouldn’t be taken seriously but women are humans too. We can only take so much before we break, everyone has a limit. No one is to blame but the abusers for their actions.

This chapter is pissing me off because trolling today is still treated like it’s harmless when from what I’m learning with this book, the extremist communities and their online harassment should be taken seriously because they also translate into real life in many cases. I do think parts of it have become outdated but trolling and other forms of harassment online still happens quite often.

The MRA’s attained legitimacy because of our current political climate. Because we have politicians like Donald Trump, academics and even women echoing their rhetoric even though what they’re fighting for is actually placing the wrong blame on women instead of the underlying issues surrounding men that needs tackling.

It’s nsane to me how men find themselves to be victims in a patriarchal society.

It really is interesting how the impact of MGTOW community discriminates women in the workplace solely on the basis of their sex, festering a dangerous sexist implication that women are conniving beings who make up allegations against men. While it isn’t as violent as the other communities, its rhetoric is more widespread offline. I don’t think men realize the underlying misogyny being normalized here.

I didn’t know that MGTOW community is a thing but even though they pose a lesser threat for women since they believe in complete isolation from women, they spout the same misogynistic rhetoric with the other manosphere communities.

In the same vein, there’s a lack of accountability on men’s part who are members of these community, positioning women as vile and wicked beings who only exist to ruin men.
