‘To the husband or the judge?’ Mme de Villefort stammered.
I saw questions like this multiple times throughout this book where people ask “am I talking to the doctor or a friend”, “the banker or my in law” and I just love the way they permit people to exercise different versions of themselves based on the occasions.

I like how people were prescribed southern sun and air, sea at some place……kind of thing as medications😂😂😂

This book is indeed finally picking up omgg

“Followed by the count, the baron led the way through a long succession of apartments characterized by tedious ostentation and expensive bad taste, until they reached Mme Danglars’ boudoir, a small octagonal room hung with red satin and trimmed with Indian muslin.” Lol when Dumas hates you he’ll let you know no matter the occasion

‘What I clearly recall is that I felt ashamed at letting a talent like mine go to waste, and, as I had been given some new pistols, I thought I’d try them out on the Arabs….’

The more I learn about the past…..ugh it’s so disgusting

This is going slower than expected
