Fourth story done. I’ll stop here for now. Again with the silly to sad slippery slope!! Very interesting. Also a story about love/marriage. I thought it was interesting that it was told in first person but half the story was about things the character wasn’t even there for. So like semi-third person too.

I have returned after a brief break. I fear it may be some time until I can finish this book. However! I am enjoying the Eve in Hollywood sequel! It’s very interesting because it’s about Eve but told through the perspective of the people she’s meeting. Quite unique. I LOVE AMOR TOWLES!!

Finished with the final short story. One word summery: YUP! Loved it. Can’t wait for the final half of the book; it’s a sequel/spinoff for one of the main characters from “Rules of Civility” which I loved when I read it last summer.

Fifth story done! This one was funny!! The husband reminded me of Schmidt from New Girl and I could totally see the narrator rolling her eyes at him bc he was being so dramatic.

Third story done. This one was cute, a little sad. Very different vibe. It started off in its normal witty, ironic tone but then things hit the fan lol and it got quite serious. Which matched the character perfectly because that’s what happened to him throughout the story too. Not a love story but a story about love.

Second story done! I didn’t like this one AS much but it was still entertaining. It was dramatic in a drama queen kind of way, as usual, but had a very different vibe than the last one. Interestingly, though, it also was about fraud so that’s interesting. This one was for sure illegal though, whereas the last one was just questionable/morally grey.

Finished the first story. I had forgotten how much I loved Amor Towles’ writing! This was a simultaneously silly and quasi-philosophical story. The MC had lots of traits similar to the MC from “A Gentleman in Moscow” and there were a couple of, not so subtle but funny nonetheless, references to his other books. I enjoyed this one! It showed how life is just a series of people you meet that take you somewhere.
