all the mysterious building up and foreshadowing... then no explanation. this is a wildly unsatisfying ending so far...

also, these characters are all 24+ years old, why are they speaking like teenagers? even at formal, public-facing events?

skylar gets a free pass, sure, but astrid and zryan? -.-

i'm just so irritated with this book.

bro skylar's power be doing everything... even enhanced hearing??? atp the laziness is insanely irritating.

all this pomp over outfitting for the grand duel (it's been almost 400 pages btw) and these magical outfitters make a tank top and shorts? then a bodysuit? why are we giving characters video game armor.

this book genuinely has some of the worst worldbuilding details ever oh my goodness.

the "bonds" between astrid and all her supposed enemies turned friends/lovers feel so shallow. predictable, i don't mind. but it was so badly executed it's completely unbelievable.

also, i'm so tired of romantasies with fake morally gray mmcs. you know damn well he's not morally gray. just give me a goody two shoes i'd love the change-up.

now there's ice skates and a whole ice skating rink. at a ball. the authors be throwing in whatever they want, fuck worldbuilding.

a masked BALL and you're wearing a CROP TOP AND SKIRT??? DON'T PISS ME OFF RIGHT NOW.

you're telling me there's makeup sponges too??? they were invented 2002/2003... synthetic material......

why is the dialogue so cringe and over dramatic... especially in the most mundane of situations 😭

also i hate the worldbuilding. you have electricity but not gunpowder. you have leather armor but also crop tanks, sports bras, and backless jumpsuits. ?????
