The whiplash this books gives you between interesting worldbuilding and clumsy writing is insane.

Also this whole convo had me tripping. We are getting pay off to things that were never established or built upon leaving the reveal hollow and non-sequitur.

Might throw some Danish in there as well for good measure.

My confusion with this chapter did not get any better. In fact, I’m pretty sure it got worse. I feel like the author just isn’t that good at writing fast paced scenes. A lot is happening, but it is inadequately explained making it very difficult to situate the characters. Hollis was suddenly not there, but we didn’t see him leave. Alo is suddenly in a different part of the cave. I’m very lost.

The writing in certain scenes is a bit clumsy. It makes understanding what is actually happening difficult- it’s happened a few times now. It feels like the author knows what is happening but doesn’t know how to properly translate that to the reader- like we’re going from A to C and there’s information missing. Where did the wizard come from? Why is he here? Did he follow them? Why? He’s just there suddenly

I do not like Hollis. Put your shirt down SIR!
