I loved my father.
But for the first time in my life, I questioned why. Why did I love this man? I didn’t know.
I stared at him and, for the first time, I felt like I was really seeing him. He didn’t love me. He used the word love like a weapon, as a means of control.

He loved the money I made.

“Oh.I see. You don’t want her to have ideas”
“Yes. Exactly. That’s exactly right.” And then,as though realizing what he’d just said, “Wait. That’s not what I meant”
“I don’t know. I think that’s exactly what you meant. The way I see it, you and Mrs.Sylvester have a lot invested in your daughter not having ideas”

She's 22 with a profitable job, and her father checks her laptop and made a list of men who would be appropriate for her while her mother decides her makeup, what she can wear and eat and makes her job decisions. She even wanted to decide who she had to flirt with. They way she's treated makes me sick. Girl they're using guilt and a lifetime of conditioning to keep you trapped but you have the tools to break free.

Cletus:
