D’yamba. Sure, let’s just throw in a random magic word this far in out of the blue, given to the hero by someone who learned it randomly by magic, and it will be oh so important later. Because that makes for satisfying storytelling.

This is the longest book ever.

It took a hell of a while to get through part I. There’s a distinct narrative style, done well but damn is it wordy. The slow pace isn’t a problem (yet) and it’s fine so far. Relieved that it’s not a drag like The Talisman (yet). My theory is that Straub is doing most of the writing here.

Next up after my second-least favorite King book ever (Dreamcatcher), it's the sequel to my absolute least favorite King book (The Talisman). Yippee!
