Oh goody. They pass through literal Toon Town on their way through the house. What an amazing detail.

D’yamba. Sure, let’s just throw in a random magic word this far in out of the blue, given to the hero by someone who learned it randomly by magic, and it will be oh so important later. Because that makes for satisfying storytelling.

It took a hell of a while to get through part I. There’s a distinct narrative style, done well but damn is it wordy. The slow pace isn’t a problem (yet) and it’s fine so far. Relieved that it’s not a drag like The Talisman (yet). My theory is that Straub is doing most of the writing here.

Next up after my second-least favorite King book ever (Dreamcatcher), it's the sequel to my absolute least favorite King book (The Talisman). Yippee!

It started off okay, if long-winded, but it's just gotten worse and worse.

Jason (not getting review comment notifications) Pierce Well, shucks. I remember I really liked this one. I know I really liked Jack and the blind man whose name escapes me, but I think some of the story was a little lackluster.

Once again it seems we are on opposite sides of a Stephen King book, ha ha.

Marc *Dark Reader with a Thousand Young! Iä!* Henry was a cool dude, probably the best part of the story. I’ll give you that. I even liked the villainous semi-dementia shit-smeared villain.

Jason (not getting review comment notifications) Pierce I just looked at my review, and it looks like I gave it my "best of the year" award for 2019. I'm trying to remember why I liked it so much, though I'm drawing a blank on a lot of the plot. I remember not being impressed with the motorcycle gang. I know there was a nursing home involved, and... was there a psychiatric hospital too? I'm pretty sure there's a haunted house in it, and I love haunted houses and ghosts, so that probably played into it. The Fisherman was a love-to-hate dude, but I recall thinking Mr. Munshun, or whoever it is, was kind of lame. And that reporter was another love-to-hate dude. And I remembered liking the Dark Tower connections.

This will be getting a reread, maybe even before Other Worlds Than These comes out so I can freshen up on potential Easter Eggs. But fuck hitting The Talisman again; life is too short.

I look forward to your review to see what didn't work for you.
