I DNF’ed the book that was supposed to be my palate cleanser. But it still feels refreshing to be back in this universe and even though there’s yet another time jump from the second book, it didn’t feel too distant for me to get confused. I like the hint of how larger than reality Hadrian as a legend is becoming. I’m liking where this is starting.

I’m intrigued. I do like how Hadrian seems more cautious now following the events of being Halfmortal. So, I’m going to see through his belief that the mission the Emperor gave him is meant to fail and humble him. I’m excited to see how that goes, especially with the introduction of the Emperor.
