welll i gotta say, i have no idea where this is going. idk how i feel about sebastian becoming a monk. but the pattern i’m getting is that the family cannot escape the curse of catholicism. it had taken over everybody’s life whether they acknowledge it or not. all of them are rotten from the core. they feel shame all the time, yet they keep believing in the church, and hating it at the same time …

Having a friend with depression, suffering from addiction, family trying everything to make him sober except ask how he feels. “We must keep him happy and healthy here for a bit.” This bitch is so delusional, even if Marchmain is a terrible man, I understand why he left this insane family. How I hope Sebastian has a good ending :((
TLDR Im very much enjoying the story!

well, i am halfway through. this has been interesting in many aspects. catholicism in england has not been investigated much i think, and the frustration it ignites in me is becoming weary. sebastian’s family is driving me insane. charles is still pretty mysterious to me ngl. and his father - as insane as he is, is still probably the most sensible person in this book, and i honestly get him
