Good story so far but I have a correction: here in NC, medical examiners aren’t volunteers. They’re employees with the Office of the chief medical examiner(OCME) a state agency in Raleigh within the div. of public health and autopsy centers throughout the state. Our chief ME and asst. ME are medical doctors with full staff including a state toxicologist, etc. Volunteers?? How would that even work?
