I'm confused. Is that actually the end of the book? Am I missing something I was supposed to grasp? Or is it an intentional cliffhanger to lead into the second novel of the duology? If that's the case, I think this book needed more closure so it's at least somewhat self-contained.

The pace is picking up a bit, but took nearly three hundred pages to do so. Perhaps HappyHead should be regarded as a slow burn...

It's taken me a while to get through this book. By no means is it bad, but for a story often labeled a thriller, this one moves slowly and with relatively little content that could be called high-stakes.

Hmm...I just don't know. There have been few real surprises thus far.

This is a slower burn than I anticipated, but perhaps the pace and stakes will pick up in the back half.
