Yeah so it’s a DNF at this point. I’ll give myself a while to get an to it but likely a DNF. First 1/3 was good. But the story is flat and the world is uninteresting.

Unbroken is a better fantasy. I think I prefer high fantasy to romantasy. The plot here isn’t great. The world feels too simple.

I don’t know that this story is particularly compelling. The plot surrounding the romance hasn’t really been that interesting beyond the blinding at the beginning. Maybe I’m spoiled by Ruby Roe where plot moves fast.

Okay. So Valda isn’t acting like someone who just lost her eyesight and is at the mercy of a woman she can’t see. Is the flirting appropriate? Even if we were progressing to her sleeping with Maris, I’d rather it’d be a power thing than a flirting thing, because she’s spontaneously blind and it hasn’t even been 24 hours and, it’s her birthday when she’s supposed to meet her soulmate. Hmm. Thoughts.
