The cover is total click bait and this is a very odd book. There's no sense of place or time, just relentless rain, heated, lingering looks and a fixation on kneeling/scarred hands.

I'm not a construction worker but how can you have this many near misses and accidents without someone saying something to building inspectors. The implications are profit over safety, not only shoddy work but dangerous too Why hasn't Elias grassed up Derek, does he need this job that much?
