‘After all the glories of spring and midsummer, the woods fall quiet in July. There are no great spectacles, no carpets of flowers or choruses of birds. All of that springtime posturing and frenzy was for one purpose - creating babies…’ 🌞
‘Birds have been working hard to feed their chicks, and confused fledglings will be trying out their wings among the branches’. 🌳

September - It is spider mating season, so we now see many larger spiders spinning webs to impress the opposite sex, as the males come out of hiding to seek a mate.

‘On glorious summer days, the woods are a cool, dark refuge, the few pools of light that reach the forest floor ghostly. Along the forest's rides, in its clearings and deep in its darkest places, it is clear that a shift is taking place - some of the woodland's own harvests are beginning’.

April is the most magical moment in the woods all year long, and if you only visit the woodland once this year, make it from April-May. The breathtaking lilac haze of a bluebell carpet in an ancient wood is a phenomenon only seen in the UK and Ireland.
I adore this beautiful time of year! 🥹🌳

That’s January read! I’m so tempted to get a sneaky peek at what February brings, but I shall put it aside until the new month is here. First impression - what a beautiful, spiritual book. Wow, I love it already! 😍
