Reread the opus 18 quartets, written early in Beethoven’s career. I am of the opinion that as a set these are already as formidable as the greatest chamber works of Haydn and Mozart. Particular standouts this time through: I:1, I:2, IV:1, IV:4, VI:2, and VI:4. The second movement of 1 (I:2) remains the pinnacle for me. Next up are the Razumovskys.

Finished the three Razumovskys. The slow movement of the first (VII:3) is surely one of the greatest achievements in music.
