This has been a hard read for me; I've had to re-read sections to figure out where I was in the narrative. It's worn me out--I've not been enjoying the experience. Lady Audley's Secret was supposedly written before this book & the language usage in LAS is clearer & more understandable. This is much shorter but feels endless to me. I might DNF. The heat's destroying me; my husband couldn't wake me from a nap before.

A little difficult for me to decipher at times with its old-style language, but still an intriguing story. When I was young, I watched several movies based around the story, and I liked every one of those movies. I've now finally tried the book version--that took me way too long....
