God, for some reason I was remembering/imagining the Iskoort book as being stupid filler just like the Helmacron books (and in fairness I don't think any books are as stupid as the Helmacron books), but I didn't remember just how meaningful the Howlers were. It's clear that a part of Jake sees himself and the other Animorphs as children made murder, and under threat of murder. Erek's lack of sympathy is surprising.

Shit, this is the bets written opening so far, I think? Is it just a really fucking good ghost writer? I'm too lazy to look them up. Anyway, props on the fresh take.
