God, for some reason I was remembering/imagining the Iskoort book as being stupid filler just like the Helmacron books (and in fairness I don't think any books are as stupid as the Helmacron books), but I didn't remember just how meaningful the Howlers were. It's clear that a part of Jake sees himself and the other Animorphs as children made murder, and under threat of murder. Erek's lack of sympathy is surprising.
