I need to read some of Lewis's theological works apparently, but his viewpoint seemed to be that paganism wasn't the enemy of Christianity but the forerunner, early people using their imaginations as they work toward the eventual truth

Ok, so this is a confusing interruption of pagan bacchanalia in the middle of this Christian allegory, and it seems like the point is that Aslan is there and it's ok within this framework because nature is being controlled? But he hasn't touched upon all the aspects of this, and it still comes off as weird at the very least.
